AUTHOR'S NOTES :
As this isn't a franchise that is known for being 'feminist', I'd like summarize why this movie—unlike ALL of its predecessors—is bursting with GIRL POWER! ( Hopefully without too many spoilers. ^^;; )
Though often scantily clad, and does take her top off just once, the female protagonist...
...makes SIGNIFICANT contributions in furthering the plot.
...is NOT a damsel in distress ( rescues the male protagonist almost as often as he rescues her, maybe more so ).
...SURVIVES the film ( doesn’t die for 'man pain' ).
...NO SEX SCENE ( Hell, not even a kiss! Don't get me wrong, there were a LOT of heavy romantic implications, but she was not overtly a love interest. )
...Climatic fight scene was with a MALE VILLAIN and she WON in NO uncertain terms!
This last one blew my mind. I can’t even remember ever seeing a female protagonist entering into combat with anyone who WASN'T a female villain—Like, ever.—especially for their climatic battle scene. <3
