Geek Moments: Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Young Avengers Requirements Checklist ( SPOILERS )




IRON LAD

  • Required Character: Iron Man Reason: Iron Lad is named after Iron Man because of his use of similar technology. This is also why it was assumed that there was a connection between the two. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a solo film: "Iron Man" (2008).

  • Required Character: Kang the Conqueror Reason: Iron Lad IS Kang the Conqueror when he was much MUCH younger. CHECK! [ BY DEFAULT ] As Kang the Conqueror is a time traveler, he can—therefore—be introduced at any time into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ;)


PATRIOT a.k.a. Eli Bradley

  • Required Character: Captain America Reason: Back during World War I, in an attempt to reproduce Dr. Erskine's Super Soldier Serum—which was lost upon his death—the US Military gathered 300 African-American soldiers to use for testing. Eli's Grandfather, Isaiah Bradley, was one of the few who survived the testing. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a solo film: "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011).


HULKLING a.k.a. Teddy Altman

  • Required Character: The Incredible Hulk Reason: Hulkling is named after the Hulk because of how their physical appearances are so similar. This is also why it was assumed that there was a connection between the two. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "The Avengers" (2012).

  • Required Race: The Kree Reason: His biological father was a prominent figure in the Kree Empire: Mar-Vell, also known as Captain Marvel. Being part Kree is where Hulkling gets his increased strength, endurance and durability. CHECK! The race is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the appearance of the Kree super villain, Ronan the Accuser, in the feature film: "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014).

  • Required Race: The Skrulls Reason: His biological mother was Princess Anelle of the Skrull Empire. Being part Skrull, Hulkling is a shapeshifter whose natural appearance comprises of green skin with pointed ears and a ruffled chin. With Princess Anelle's lineage, Hulkling is also SPACE ROYALTY. NOT CHECK... :(


WICCAN a.k.a. Billy Kaplan

  • Required Character: Thor Reason: Wiccan's powers seemed Asgardian at the time when he was recruited by Iron Lad. So 'Asgardian' became his hero named, until a friend conveniently pointed out the downside of that particular name should his relationship with Hulkling become public. So he then renamed himself 'Wiccan'. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a solo film: "Thor" (2011).

  • Required Character: Scarlet Witch Reason: Long story short: she's Wiccan's mother. Also Wiccan's appearance is similar to his mother's and they both have the same mutant powers. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).

  • Required Character: Vision Reason: Long story short: he's Wiccan's father. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).


SPEED a.k.a. Tommy Shepherd

  • Required Character: Quicksilver Reason: Long story short: he's Speed's Uncle. Also Speed's appearance and mutant powers are nearly identical to those of his uncle. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).

  • Required Character: Scarlet Witch Reason: Long story short: she's Speed's mother. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).

  • Required Character: Vision Reason: Long story short: he's Speed's father. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).


KATE BISHOP a.k.a. Hawkeye

  • Required Character: Hawkeye (a.k.a. Clint Barton) Reason: Kate Bishop "acquires" the name because of her skill with the bow and arrow was very similar to the Avenger. Eventually, said Avenger officially passes his moniker to her. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "The Avengers" (2012).


STATURE a.k.a. Cassie Lang

  • Required Character: Ant-Man (a.k.a. Scott Lang) Reason: Ant-Man (a.k.a. Scott Lang) is her father. After his death she was secretly taking pym particles—which powered her father's suit—for years which is how she developed the power to grow and shrink. CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a solo film: "The Ant-Man" (2015).

  • BONUS! Cassie Lang herself makes an appearance in the film: "The Ant-Man" (2015).

VISION

  • CHECK! The character is officially introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the group film: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015).
